Nika Vaughan's first memory of makeup is when she was five, and right before heading out to a big event, her mother found her covered in face paint from ear to ear in one of her best Sunday dresses. When they arrived at the party, the makeup was a hit. Nika is often inspired by her background in sculpture and fashion theory, and seeks to push the expectations of "pretty makeup." Having graduated from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, she is enamored with makeup's ability to enhance and transform a person's natural beauty.
Nika began her career in 2003 with retail experience from companies such as Shiseido, Bobbi Brown, Shu Uemura and Giorgio Armani Beauty. During this time, she learned both technique and product knowledge. She was soon working with local photographers continuing on to national publications such as Good Housekeeping, Business Week, Seventeen, and Time Out Chicago. Celebrities and personalities include Chicago's Mayor Richard M. Daley, Super model Niki Taylor, and Morning Show host Tom Joyner. She is also a regular doing TV and video work for local and network stations such as TV One, WLS ABC 7, and CNBC.
